Disappointment and Success

Well I started the beading on my Mirabilia "The Stargazer" design a few days ago and realised I had yet to purchase all of the necessary beads for it. As I normally get most of my stitching supplies from a craft shop on the other side of town, near where I used to live I decided it was time to find another craft shop closer to home. After some quick research I found that I am only 20 minutes drive away from quite a well stocked stitchery shop. I was very happy. I made plans to visit 2 days later (I had to slide the visit in between classes and work).

I was very happy with the store as it had all of the Mill Hill beads that I need for the design but I was less than impressed by the service. I guess I must just be used to my other store that I visit, they always greet you when you enter the store and make sure that you are okay finding anything you might need; they are always very happy to chat too which makes the visit that much more pleasent. This new store though, they didn't say hello when I came in, didn't offer any help with finding my way around the store and were quite rude at the check-out. Very disappointing for such a nice little shop. I have decided that I will give them another chance though, they may have just been having an off day. With any luck the service will be much improved on my next visit or I will just have to continue to venture out to my old store.

On a happier note, I am quite happy with the progress I have be making on "The Stargazer", I would very much like to have her finished by the weekend. I will be sure to post a picture of her once she is finished.

As my first post I would like to introduce the idea of this blog. I've been finding recently that while I am still enjoying doing my cross-stitching it does not have much of a place in my life among my friends and family (none of the sew except my mother). This leaves me with little to no outlet for discussing my sewing issues or excitments with anyone other than myself and that can get a little irritating. Im also not very good on discussion boards so that is not really an option for me either. So I thought, why not create another blog just for the purpose of rambling on about my cross-stitching woes and glories; this way I am able to vent without anyone having to be involved but my ideas and completions are still making their way out into the world.

I thought I would start by uploading a photo of a piece I finished last year in about 3 weeks (I had a lot of spare time on my hands)

She is Nora Corbetts "Ivy" and I think she turned out quite nicely. I have plans to have her framed but time and money are always an issue. The lighting in the photo is a poor but I'm hoping to get a better shot when I finally have her framed.

I'm currently working on "The Stargazer" by Mirabilia and she is almost finished. Will post a picture later. XD
